The Wednesday After Christmas

I don't want you guys to think I'm "hat-shit crazy" or anything but, yes it's true: I'm wearing another big, floppy hat. What can I say besides I love those little (or big, I guess) things with all my heart! I personally feel like adding a fancy hat makes it okay for me to dress down the rest of my outfit. Once again, I'm in it for the lazy. I got off of work at 2 pm, and raced home to beat the sun. I've been wanting to take pictures outside for the longest time. I know my indoor, slightly yellow lighting for the previous post's pics has been atrocious, so I figured the people would enjoy some sunlight! I was also uber pumped about pictures because who isn't when  they've acquired new clothes? I braved Urban Outfitters the night after Christmas and of course, everything had been ransacked. I was okay with the leftovers that I did get, however. The sequin shirt with tails, and the hat being two of those "leftover" purchases. I also picked up two cute nail polishes to add on to my nail polish fam. I suck and just had to get a generic amethyst color. I'm sorry I'm a girl! All in all the crowd at Urban wasn't too bad, and thankfully I didn't have to blow all of my Christmas money there, on account of said ransacking. Oh yeah, I will be getting a package of goodies from the store soon, because I'm addicted and went home to order more things after shopping. Just like a helpless fool.

I just wanna brag on this ring for a moment. I mean, look. So pretty. So cheap. Did I mention I have an ongoing love affair with the thrift store? I'm trying to make this thing official.
But why should the ring be upstaged by a measly brooch?? Because this "Frames" brooch is awesome, that's why. I don't know what more needs to be said. I saw this piece and got really excited. Take that however you will.
Route 66. Guy shoes. Thrifted. No shame.
And last but certainly not least, I decided to get my nose pierced again yesterday. Opposite side, this time. I'd been thinking about getting it for a while, and yesterday seemed like the opportune time. I had a bunch of money, I was sitting around bored, and i wanted to delve into some pain. No, I'm just kidding. But either way , I'm obsessed with the new piercing, and I will say that it beats my nose ring the first time around. I did it myself unfortunately, and let's just say that experience had such a barbaric feel. I was stupid and young. Alas, I have learned that piercers are good at what they do, and that I have bad intuition. NO BIG DEAL.

Closet Shopping

Looking at these pictures, I can't help but think of my mom back in her hayday. Something about the quality and the attire reminds me of old pictures tucked away in dusty photo albums, and well maybe even mothballs, hahaha. But you'll be happy to know the smell of mothballs was not recreated for this post. I just kind of got inspired to actually look decent for a change, seeing as how I'm usually in my work duds, comfy pjs or some other equally embarrassing ensemble. And of course I had no plans, but having no plans has never stopped me from playing dress-up before! (Sad that I still do this, I know. Please keep the judgements to a minimum!)

Anyways, I figured it was about time to unleash my big, floppy hat that I got at Urban for pretty much FREE! $2.50, what what! It's kind of been collecting dust and getting trampled on left and right, but I spotted it today and had a "lightbulb going off" moment. Don't you just love going through your closet and running into old things that you've forgotten about? I swear it's like shopping...very rewarding, I must say. I felt just as happy finding the romper among my things, even though I stopped wearing that because once it gets cold, a romper just isn't practical, unless you're okay with goosebumps, or going to rock some leggings as well. So I guess I'm trying to say that I had a fantastic time shopping in my closet today!

Oh yes, it's Christmas time, and of course I haven't gone gift shopping yet. Why would I go holiday shopping early when I could just procrastinate till the absolute last minute, and find myself in the midst of psychotic shoppers, with the possibility of getting trampled on?? No, I will wait until Thursday (payday) or maybe even CHRISTMAS EVE to punish myself-I mean shop for my friends. I mean, how bad could it really be for a girl like me though? Girl like me meaning I will probably only be venturing to various thrift stores, and probably nothing else. Winning.

Apart from my usual procrastinating, I've been soooo busy, just working my little behind off everyday, but I've been calculating, and at the rate I'm going, I should be able to reward myself with a pair of Jeffrey Campbells, so that's all of the motivation that I need! Back to Christmas though, I cannot believe that it's about to be here, and that another year will soon be gone. I haven't really even thought about Christmas that much this year, it seems it gets harder to keep up with the festivities as much as I would like. Wahhh to growing up. But on the plus side, I guess the true meaning of Christmas becomes the main reason to even celebrate then. Family, friends, being alive-those are the important things.

Well anyways, I'm gonna stop rambling now, but I shall return sooner than you think. Hopefully before Christmas, but one can never know when living such a fast-paced and exciting life like mine! Bahaha, whatever, I'm so kidding. Happy holidays!

Flashbacks

Hello again...yeah, so soon right? Well, I actually felt like following through with the whole frequent updating thing. Anyways, while I'm updating, it's not actually in congruence with what I wore today. Not only because today's outfit was nothing special, and I didn't really have much down time, but because I was looking through old pictures, and realized there were several different looks that I've never even posted! Of course all of these pictures are old, hence the summery feel of some of them, but alas here are the photos, enjoy!

Prodigal Blogger

Hey again, everyone...or the select few that actually even venture over to check my blog out! Either way, hello and sorry (once again) for the hiatus. Needless to say (although I will say it): LIFE HAS BEEN CRAZY. Long story short, I moved locations once again, and this time am very happy with my living situation. My roommate and I even adopted a little kitty to complete our household trifecta. And yes, little Edie is quite adorable. Anyhow, enough with the formalities, I just wanted to let you guys know that I haven't been kidnapped and dragged away to a third world country or anything interesting like that!

So as you can see, a little bit of involuntary remodeling has been going on with my page...some months ago I noticed that all of my pictures that accompanied my posts began to disappear! Begrudgingly, I went through and did a major spring cleaning, deleting all of those old posts, and weeping all the while. (Just kidding. But I wasn't completely ecstatic about the whole thing, either.) Anyhow, I figured why not regroup, and come back with a fresh new blog? So that's what this is, and of course a blog makeover (layout-wise) is going to happen very soon, so be expecting that. The whole "deleting of old pictures" deal has gotten me pumped about updating regularly, so all in all, it's not such a bad thing. Not to mention the fact that I've had blog/vlog fever lately, and have been obsessing over alot of newfound bloggers, if you must know.

With all of that being said, I'll quit babbling (doubtful). The above outfit was something i wore out a couple of nights ago to a show at Bottletree Cafe, here in Birmingham. Alabama Shakes sold out the venue, and of course I wanted to wear something cool, just in case anyone cared to notice, I guess. I mean, I'm sure you guys know how that is! I definitely felt out of place (which is super odd for Bottletree, because well, everyone dresses pretty outrageous at this place...) with my latex leggings, but then again, they are pretty bold. I played around with this weird purple/peach nail color combo, and please ignore the drab finish. I have since removed     the unruly manicure, although I blame my nail painting expertise ALWAYS. And there it is...a long overdue ramble about my outfit. Be expecting more soon, because I am going to try this whole "frequent updating" thing, however foreign it might seem...

Hope you guys are having a wonderful Saturday, and keeping warm in this cold! Bye-Bye...
